Not long ago, one of our technicians was sent out to troubleshoot a network of one of our colleagues. Our technician arrived on site to look into a server issue, minor problem, nothing that couldn't be handled. Upon completion, one of the employees asked "Could you also take a look at this machine here? It's low on space and we would like to delete any unwanted files". Our technician agreed and immediately jumped into action. The first thing was to find out what the biggest folder was. To achieve this, the technician downloaded WinDirStat. The technician patiently waited as it installed and ran, then produced its result. This is what the technician saw... Wait... what's all that blue!? What in the world is a .qua file!? A quick google search and the answer was found... AntiVir quarantine files! (a very decent free AntiVirus) Wait a minute... that can't possibly be right... just run the scan again and.... the same result. At this point, the technician was staring at the computer in awe.... just how many viruses are we talking about!? The technician proceeded to open the AntiVir control center and take a look at the quarantined files. After a VERY long, "Not Responding" wait... and decisions as to whether or not to cancel it.... this screen finally appeared... 10,000 viruses in the quarantine!? WOW! That's quite a lo.... wait a minute.... 10,000 is too round a number to be accurate.... this is just a theory, but perhaps there are more? So the technician proceeded to open the AntiVir quarantine folder on the file system... that was a mistake, explorer crashed. THIS TIME... the technician opened the folder just before it and pulled the properties of the folder... what the technician saw rocked his world.... Hmmm.... 341,954... 59 gigabytes... is that a record? Insane in the membrain!
